  • Kawardha. In Kabirdham district, Bajrang Dal and VHP workers tried to enter the SDM office with cattle demanding to stop cow smuggling. Policemen stopped the protesters by closing the main gate of the SDM office. During this, the cow protectors raised slogans and sat on a dharna. The administration assured the protesters of taking appropriate action and after that the matter calmed down.The VHP and Bajrang Dal activists have demanded from the state government that cow smuggling should be banned and strict action should be taken against the smugglers. The activists have also demanded to give Rs 1000 to all the cow herders of the state for their upkeep. Actually the whole matter is of Jhironi village of the district, from where 70-80 mute animals were being taken to Salhewara on foot, where the cow protectors questioned the cow smugglers but they could not give proper answers. On this, the cow protectors suspected that all the cattle were being taken to the slaughterhouse. During the same time, 3 smugglers were handed over to the administration by the VHP and Bajrang Dal activists. One cow smuggler has fled from the spot. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the administration is investigating and the cattle will be handed over to their owners.
