Ambikapur 21 January 2021. 1500 eggs are being produced daily at the government poultry farm located at Sakalo, Division Headquarters Ambikapur. Through incubator and hatching, the work of extracting and promoting eggs from scientific method is being done. Chicks are being supplied to the field offices of Surguja, Surajpur and Balrampur Ramanujganj districts from here. There are about 2 thousand 200 hens and chickens in 4 layers of Black Rock and IRI species. The main objective of the poultry farm is to develop chickens through hatching which is made available to the beneficiaries under the backyard scheme by the Animal Husbandry Department.
The poultry farm vaccinator reported that the chicks hatch after a similarly sized egg is kept in an incubator for 21 days. There are four incubators, each with a capacity of 12 to 15 thousand eggs. Chicks are removed from the incubator and kept in the hatchery for 3 days for culture. Hatcher machine is also 4 here. After 3 days of hatching the chickens are shifted to wood. Bulbs have been placed in the wood to give the chickens the appropriate temperature. Giving chicks to the wood, Along with vaccination, special care is taken for cleanliness. The chicks are sent to field offices after 28 days in wood. He said that poultry of Kadaknath species are also practiced here. Poultry of this species is not currently available. Ordered from Orissa, which will be available soon. Chicks are given priority to self-help groups under the backyard scheme. One unit is given per group consisting of 45 chicks. Along with this, 17 to 20 kg of poultry diet is also given.
It is noteworthy that in order to promote the poultry farming business in the district, the Collector Shri Sanjeev Kumar Jha gave necessary instructions after observing the Sakalo Poultry Farm. He has directed the officials of the Department of Animal Husbandry to prepare a layout for the poultry shelter to open a poultry farming center in Model Gothano to link the women of the group to poultry.
