Councilor Ajit Kukreja has been removed from the Mayor in Council on Tuesday, a day before the general meeting. During the assembly elections, he rebelled against Congress and contested the elections. When he rebelled, the party expelled him from the membership of Congress.
Ajit Kukreja was the head of the Fire, Electrical and Mechanical Department in the Mayor-in-Council. Raipur Municipal Corporation Secretariat has issued an order to remove the MIC member from the post. There is a general meeting of Raipur Municipal Corporation tomorrow (21st February). Chairman Pramod Dubey said that now Mayor Ajaz Dhebar will answer the questions of Ajit Kukreja’s department during the question hour. Ajit was not going to the MIC meeting.
After the assembly elections, Ajit Kukreja was not attending the Mayor-in-Council meeting. The general meeting was held 2 months ago. In this, an invitation was also sent to Ajit Kukreja from the Municipal Corporation Secretariat to attend the meeting. But he did not attend the meeting. I will go to the general meeting – Kukreja
Regarding removal from MIC membership, Councilor Ajit Kukreja said that since the time I contested the assembly elections as an independent, I was assuming that I had been expelled from the party. I was assuming by default that I was also out of the membership of the Mayor-in-Council. A month ago I got information that I have not been removed from MIC membership.
I was not even present in the last 3 MICs. Today at 2 pm I met the Mayor and during the discussion I said that you are free to take whatever decision you want as per the party. Being or not being a MIC member is not a big topic. Take whatever decision you want.
Kukreja further said that, I will go to the general meeting. I am an independent councillor, an independent councilor has a different role. I will go to the general meeting and present my views on public issues.
Contested legislative election from Raipur North
Ajit Kukreja had contested the elections from Raipur North Assembly seat. Earlier there was speculation about him getting ticket from Congress but after this Congress made Kuldeep Juneja its candidate from North. After this, Congress had to bear the brunt due to Kukreja rebelling and fighting. Purandar Mishra won from this seat and became MLA.
