Raipur Youth Congress President Vinod Kashyap and his two companions were attacked with sticks late on Thursday night. All three have suffered serious head injuries. In protest against the incident in Sarona area, Raipur West MLA Vikas Upadhyay along with hundreds of supporters sat on a dharna on the road outside DD Nagar police station. He expressed his displeasure over the attack on the Congress worker.
Top officers of Raipur Police gave immediate instructions to remove the anger of the leader and arrest the accused. After which the police and crime branch team of the police station remained busy searching for the accused throughout the night. Know the whole matter.
Raipur Youth Congress President Vinod Kashyap alias Bhakku lodged an FIR in DD Nagar police station that he was with his friends around 12.30 am on Friday night. Then he came to know on the phone that BJP councilor Rajesh Thakur along with other people had stopped his acquaintance’s car in Sarona area. When Vinod and his companions reached the spot, the BJP councilor and other youths already present there stopped them. First they abused each other. Then they started fighting. It is alleged that during this period the youth were attacked with sticks. Due to which Vinod Kashyap, Mithlesh Yadav and Sonu Nayak suffered head injuries. BJP-Congress workers clashed with each other.
The whole uproar started with allegations of distributing money and blankets to woo voters. Workers of both BJP and Congress parties of Raipur West Assembly kept clashing with each other in Sarona area over this matter.
When DD Nagar police got information about this, the force immediately reached the spot in 3 jeeps. The staff present including the police station kept trying to stop them by giving advice. Then, taking the opportunity, 3-4 youths attacked the Youth Congress District President and his associates at the other end of the road. BJP is doing violence, police is not taking action – Vikas Upadhyay.
MLA Vikas Upadhyay demanded the police to arrest the accused soon. During this demonstration, he alleged that BJP people are continuously indulging in violence. But the police is not taking any action against them.
City ASP said- teams left for arrest
Police have registered an FIR on the complaint of attack on a youth named Vinod Kashyap. In this case, police is taking legal action against Rajesh Thakur, Shubhankar Dwivedi and others. Teams have been deployed to search for the absconding accused.
