Raipur. Following the instructions given by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai to prevent crimes in Chhattisgarh, Raipur Police has taken strict action against criminals while working diligently. During this time, the arrest of criminals has also increased. Under the “Nijat Abhiyan” being run to curb the illegal drug trade, the police has taken effective action against drug smugglers. Under the Nijat Abhiyan, a public awareness campaign is also being run among the youth against drugs, due to which there has been a decrease in illegal drug trade and crimes related to it. Along with this, crimes registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code BNS have also decreased by 7.

 According to the data released by Raipur Superintendent of Police till August, 6125 crimes were registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Raipur district till August 2023, while 5638 crimes were registered during the same period in 2024. In this way, a decrease of 7.9 percent in crimes has been seen this year as compared to last year.

Similarly, there has been a 40 percent decrease in knife incidents till August this year as compared to last year. In the year 2023, till August, 133 cases of knife attacks were registered in Raipur district, whereas this year 79 crimes have been registered. Last year 9970 cases were registered in Excise and NDPS, whereas in the same period till August, 10458 cases were registered and effective action was taken against drug abuse.

Due to the “Nijat” campaign launched by Raipur Police against illegal drug trade, more action has been taken as compared to last year. According to Raipur Police, 93 cases of murder and attempt to murder were registered till August last year. This year 81 cases have been registered. Thus, crimes related to murder and attempt to murder have decreased by 12.9 percent as compared to last year. Rape incidents have also decreased by 11 percent as compared to last year. 134 cases of rape were registered till August last year. This year 119 cases have been registered.

There has also been a 30 percent decrease in molestation cases. 134 cases were registered till August last year. 84 cases have been registered during the same period this year. Similarly, a 9 percent decrease has been observed in theft and burglary cases. 134 cases were registered till August in the year 2023, whereas 1202 cases have been registered till August this year. There has also been a 7.9 percent decrease in assault cases as compared to last year.
