This Chowpatty adjacent to the boundary wall of Salem Girls School located in Moti Bagh was being operated illegally. The Municipal Corporation staff reached here in the afternoon with two JCBs. After this, the process of removing the kiosks and shops installed there has been started. The corporation’s flying squad is also present at the spot. The students had protested.
The students of Salem Girls School had protested against the illegal chowpatty on Monday. Chowpatty was being operated for the last several months. The students told that every day people standing at Chowpatty pass comments. Every day the sound of abuse from the chowpatty adjacent to the boundary wall reaches inside the class room. In-charge Principal Mukesh Kumar said that the school boundary is filled with illegal kiosks. Liquor bottles and dirt are also being thrown in the school campus every day. Where this Chowpatty is located, there is a class room adjacent to the same boundary. In Chowpatty, the spices of chicken and biryani reach the class room, which causes trouble. The Principal said that he had earlier complained to the Collector Office, SP Office, Municipal Corporation Office and the Mayor regarding the illegal Chowpatty, but no action was taken. Frustrated, the girl students took out a rally. Their demand was that shops should be removed from near the boundary wall.

There is jam on the road every day due to illegal chowpatty. Non-veg is served on chairs placed on the road. Customers park their cars on the road itself. Due to this people have to face problems. There is long traffic jam especially on Sundays. Earlier, illegal chowpatty was being operated near the church gate.
