Administration keeps a close eye on every nook and corner: As soon as the code of conduct is imposed, intensive investigation campaign is going on across the state, more than Rs. 2 crore seized in three days

Raipur. In view of the Lok Sabha elections, various enforcement agencies are conducting intensive investigation operations to maintain law and order. Since the model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections 2024 came into effect in Chhattisgarh, illegal money and items worth more than Rs 2 crore have been seized.

Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale has issued necessary guidelines to all District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police to take necessary action to maintain law and order during the Lok Sabha general elections. Following these guidelines, illegal transportation and storage of money and goods is being closely monitored through various enforcement agencies in the state. Under the model code of conduct applicable in the state, the monitoring team is continuously carrying out intensive investigation.

According to the information received from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, cash amounting to Rs 47 lakh 55 thousand was seized by the enforcement agencies during surveillance till March 19. During this period, 3896 liters of illicit liquor has been seized, worth Rs 8 lakh 87 thousand. During the intensive investigation operation, 195 kg of drugs worth Rs 73 lakh 17 thousand and 840 grams of precious jewelery and gems worth Rs 51 lakh 90 thousand were also seized. Apart from this, other material worth more than Rs 21 lakh 71 thousand has been seized.
