Adipurush was released on 16 June. Its teaser was released on 2 October last year. Since then this film is in controversies.

Allahabad 27 June 2023. The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday heard a petition filed in the case of objectionable dialogues of the film Adipurush. The Lucknow bench of the court said that why the test of tolerance of Hindus is taken? Thankfully they (Hindus) did not break the law.

The court also criticized the makers of the film Adipurush for presenting religious characters including Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman in an objectionable manner. The court directed the film’s co-writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla to be impleaded as a party in the case. Along with issuing notice to them, they have been asked to reply within a week.

Those who only closed the hall, they could have done something else
The High Court further said – is it right to suppress those who are gentlemen? It is good that this is about a religion whose followers did not create any public order problem. We should be thankful to them. We saw in the news that some people went to the cinema hall (where the film was being screened) and went there and forced people to close the hall, they could have done something else.

The court said – This petition is about the way this film has been made. There are some scriptures, which are worshipable. Many people read Ramcharit Manas before leaving the house.
The court also raised questions on the censor board
Hearing the petition of petitioner Prince Lenin and Ranjana Agnihotri, the bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Sriprakash Singh said – Has the Censor Board fulfilled its responsibility? What message do you want to give to the society by showing Lord Hanuman and Sita Maa like this?Seeking response from the Solicitor General, the bench said – this is a serious matter. Can you ask the Censor Board how it was done, because the state government cannot do anything in this matter.
Do the people putting disclaimers consider the countrymen and the youth as fools?
The bench said- Lord Hanuman, Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Sita Maa were portrayed as if they were nothing. With regard to the contention of the filmmakers that a disclaimer regarding the story was added to the film, do the people who put the disclaimer think the countrymen and the youth are fools? You show Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Lord Hanuman, Ravana, Lanka and then say this is not Ramayana?

Petitioner’s lawyer said – mother Sita was insulted in the film
Counsel for petitioner Prince Lenin said- The Cinematography Act takes opinion from CBFC before giving certificate to any film. The film should be clean. Women should not be allowed to be insulted.Mother Sita is being insulted in the film. I have not attached Sita’s pictures (as shown in the film) out of respect. I cannot do that.

The lawyer said – Gods and Goddesses were insulted in films earlier also
The counsel for the second petitioner Ranjana Agnihotri said – this is not the first time. This has happened in films like PK, Mohalla Assi, Haider etc. Both the petitioners demanded from the court that the disputed scene be removed from the film.
