In its report presented in the House on Tuesday, the Standing Committee on Agriculture in the Lok Sabha, while praising the Godhan Justice Scheme of Chhattisgarh, has suggested to the Central Government that a similar scheme for the purchase of cattle dung from farmers should be launched for the entire country. .
The Standing Committee on Agriculture in the Lok Sabha, headed by Shri Parvatagowda Chandanagowda Gaddigowder, in its suggestion to the Central Government, has said that by buying cow dung of their cattle, their income will increase along with increasing their income, organic farming will increase. Will be encouraged, as well as solve the problem of stray cattle. Before submitting the report in the Lok Sabha, this committee has made similar suggestions to the officials of the Union Ministry of Agriculture.
It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, with a deliberate step towards making cow dung in Chhattisgarh from 20 July 2020, the Godhan Nyaya Yojana has been implemented, in which the production of vermicompost and other products in Gothan by purchasing cow dung from cattle rearers has been implemented. being done. In Chhattisgarh, the Godhan Nyaya Yojana is being operated under the Suraji Gaon Yojana through the Gothans built in every village. Along with animal fodder and health care, employment oriented activities are also being conducted in these plantations. Varmi compost stitches have been constructed under the Godan Nyaya Yojana in these plants, in which women of self-help groups are producing organic manure. The dung is procured through Gothan committees at the rate of 2 rupees a kg. So far 80 crore rupees have been paid to the dung seller farmers, cattle rearers and collectors.
So far 71 thousand 300 quintal vermi compost has been prepared by self-help groups. At present, 7 thousand 841 self-help groups are conducting Gothan activity. About 60 thousand members of these groups are getting income of 942 lakh from various activities like vermi manure production, community garden, cow dung construction etc. A provision of 175 crores has been made in the budget of 2021-22 for Gothan Yojana. A rate of Rs 10 per kg has been fixed in Chhattisgarh for the sale of organic manure manufactured by self-help groups. All the government departments including forest, horticulture, agriculture in the state are purchasing organic manure from self-help groups as required, along with this, organic manure is being purchased by the farmers as well. Landless agricultural laborers are also getting regular income from the Godhan Nyaya Yojana.
Implementation of Chhattisgarh Government’s Godhan Nyaya Yojana promotes organic farming and cow rearing, economic benefits to cattle farmers and new employment opportunities are being created. This initiative of the government is also being appreciated by the Government of India and other states.
