Raipur, 27 February 2021. Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel attended the Chief Minister’s Kanya Marriage ceremony held at the Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium Complex in the capital Raipur today. Between the Mars sound of the clarinet and the Vedic chanting, 3 thousand 229 pairs were tied in the knot. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel extended blessings to all the newly-weds and best wishes for their happy lives. For the first time in Chhattisgarh, mass wedding ceremonies were organized under this scheme in 22 districts, all the districts were connected to the function held in the capital Raipur through video conferencing. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel interacted with newly married couples of various districts and blessed them.

 

 

233 couples got married in Raipur ceremony. Of these, three Christians and one Muslim couple were married according to their religious customs. At the ceremony, the Chief Minister symbolically provided five couples with gift material and a check of one thousand rupees. On the occasion, many couples made their marriage memorable by taking a selfie with the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister honored Shri Kamlesh Chopra of Raipur for providing utensils to brides and bridegrooms in mass marriages, and Shri Ankit Gandhi for providing hand watches with a memento for public cooperation. Women and Child Development Department organized mass marriages of three thousand 229 couples in 22 districts simultaneously, according to the Golden Book of World Records. It was announced by Mrs. Sonal Rajesh Sharma on behalf of the Golden Book of World Records.

 

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Chhaya Verma, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia, Member Secretary Smt. Rashmi Ashish Singh, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Commission for Women, Dr. Kiranmayi Naik, MLA Dharsinwa Smt. Anita Yogendra Sharma, MLA and Chhattisgarh Housing Board Chairman Mr. Kuldeep Juneja, Mayor Mr. Ejaz Dhebar, President of Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Mr. Girish Dewangan and State Civil Supplies Corporation President Mr. Ram Gopal Agrawal were present. Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Phoolodevi Netam and MLA Mr. Mohan Markam were also present at the function in Kondagaon.

 

Chief Minister Shri Baghel while blessing the newly married couples said that on the auspicious occasion of Maghi Punni, the bride and groom are tied in marriage. It is our privilege to have the opportunity to become both Barati and Gherati together. There is no one more virtuous than Kanyadaan. Its importance has increased further on the day of Maghi Punni. Mr. Baghel said that people are fed up with the wasteful expenditure in weddings. There is also a lot of wastage of means over time. By joining the mass marriage, the bride and groom have taken a new step, I congratulate them for this. Now mass marriages are being organized in many societies with the state government, which is a commendable step. The Chief Minister said that under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah, there was a provision of 15 thousand rupees, which we increased to 25 thousand rupees. Now many castes, A large number of tribal people, including people of religion, have also started joining mass marriages. Mr. Baghel said that in marriage, married couples take seven vows and pledge to live together. I also want to take the promise of taking care of the health of the people of my family throughout my life, especially from the bride and groom. Take care of the well-being of the whole family with the groom’s wife, because generations coming from the mother’s health will also be healthy.
Addressing the program, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Bhendia said that the head of the state has come to bless all the newly married brides themselves during the busy time. The event could not be held last year due to Corona. A large number of family members have appeared in this program today, due to which all the newlyweds are getting their blessings. Collective girl marriage is a good plan for low-cost wedding in times of high inflation. Under this scheme, the state government has made a provision of 25 thousand rupees by increasing the amount of 10 thousand rupees, similarly the marriage incentive amount for Divyang couples has also been increased from 50 thousand rupees to one lakh rupees. He also wished newly married couples a happy new life.
Secretary of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Shehla Nigar informed that under the Chief Minister Kanya Marriage Scheme, a target has been set to conduct 7 thousand 600 marriages this year. In this ceremony, a girl resident in Nari Niketan Raipur is married and linked to the mainstream of society. In view of the Kovid-19 transition, 22 districts have been connected to virtual mode. On this occasion, the Director of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Divya Umesh Mishra, Raipur Collector Mr. S. Departmental officer-employees and relatives of bride and groom were also present, including Bharatidasan.
