State Women’s Commission chairperson Dr. Nayak gave
instructions to women and child development officers through video conference
Raipur, 25 February 2021. State Women Commission chairperson Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak has directed to compulsorily constitute Internal Complaint Committee and Local Complaint Committee in all government and semi-governmental institutions to prevent sexual harassment of women at workplace. He has said that the name and mobile number of the chairman and members of the committee must be displayed in the respective offices. If during the surprise inspection, it is not found to constitute a committee in any department, then a penalty of Rs. 50 thousand will be imposed on the officer concerned. Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak gave this guideline on 24 February in a video conference to the District Program Officers of Women and Child Development Department, District Protection Officers of Nava Vihaan and the Central Administrators of Sakhi One Stop Center and Counselors at the Public Service Center of Collectorate Campus Raipur. Dr. Nayak directed the officers to send all the cases in which the court order has been passed and the order has not been complied with, through the application of the harassed woman to the State Women’s Commission. He assured that prompt action will be taken on such cases of contempt by meeting the Collector and Superintendent of Police of the concerned district. Dr. Nayak also instructed to organize a three-day training of conservation officers, MSW and paralegal advisors in Raipur soon for detailed information about the legal rights of women. He directed the District Program Officers to get a complaint box placed before the Women and Child Development Offices within a week and publicize it extensively so that the local women can get information about it.
Dr. Nayak said that to empower women, look after and protect their interests, end discrimination system against women, provide them equal opportunities for development in every field and take prompt action on atrocities and crimes against women. The state women are employed continuously. In sensitive cases related to women, the officers concerned need to act quickly. Mrs. Nayak asked the district authorities to propose the name of active women lawyers within a week to provide equal opportunities for justice to women.
