71 thousand 831 structures approved to stop rainwater in drains, 51 thousand 742 structures constructed

Raipur, 21 February 2021.  On the special initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, the river-drains and water sources of the state are being revived through the Narva (Nala) Development Scheme for the conservation and promotion of ground water in the state of Chhattisgarh. The Narva Development Scheme operated in the state is actually a component of Narva, Gurwa, Ghurwa, Bari of Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious Suraji village scheme. Rapid treatment of drains is being done to save rainwater through Narva development.

In the first phase, 1385 Narva (Nala) have been identified for treatment in the state of Chhattisgarh. Out of which 1372 drains are being constructed for the prevention of rainwater by constructing and treating structures like boulder checks, street plugs, brush hoods, percolation tanks, to prevent water and improve ground water level.

 

So far, 71 thousand 831 structures of various types have been approved to be constructed to prevent rain water in 1310 drains under Narva (Nala), the major component of Suraji village scheme in Chhattisgarh state, out of which 51 thousand 742 structures should be constructed Already happened. Currently 9 thousand 685 structures are under construction. For almost two years, the positive results of the work being done in the state of Chhattisgarh towards ground water conservation and promotion are now visible.

This campaign to stop water in Chhattisgarh state has not only been appreciated by the Central Government, but has also awarded the National Water Award to Surajpur and Bilaspur Districts. This National Water Award was given to Bilaspur district by the Ministry of Water Power, Government of India, for the restoration of river water channels and Surajpur district for its remarkable works of water conservation.

There has been an unprecedented increase in ground water level in the areas where Narva treatment has been done in the state of Chhattisgarh. Due to water logging in the drains, farmers have now started cultivating greens and vegetables along with better crop production. Lift the water of drains has also provided irrigation facilities to the farmers. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel says that initiative is being taken to develop villages and prosper economically through the Suraji Village Scheme of Chhattisgarh Government. Actually, this is a growing step towards building the village of the dreams of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Through it, conservation and promotion of river-drains and livestock, as well as to improve the production of nutritious food grains, fruits and vegetables, by promoting organic farming, So that the village can become financially prosperous.
