Raipur, 20 February 2021. The farmers of Patan and Gurur blocks will now take good advantage of the Deorani-Jethani drain of the Kharun river, which passes through the capital of Chhattisgarh, to create their new story. This has been possible through the construction of 406 ground-water magnification related structures under the ambitious ‘Narva Development Scheme’ of the state government at a cost of Rs. 01 crore 34 lakh from the Campa item.
Under the Chhattisgarh State Compensatory Forest Plantation Fund Management and Planning Authority under the guidance of Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, construction of large number of ground water magnification related structures in the drainage of forest areas of the state is going on fast. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rakesh Chaturvedi said that Deorani-Jethani Nala is an important source of water in Patan in Durg district and Gurur area of Balod district. Keeping this in mind, the work related to ground-water magnification of Deorani-Jethani drain was taken priority in the annual action plan for 2019-20 of Campa. Due to this, the work of Narva development in Deorani-Jethani drain has resulted in water augmentation of about 5 km of land in villages adjacent to Nala area in Gurur block and Patan block. As a result, the farmers of the area will now get full benefit of irrigation facilities including irrigation.
In this regard, Chief Executive Officer of Campa, V.V. Srinivasa Rao informed that under the Narva Development Scheme, construction of all 406 ground-water magnification related structures in Deorani-Jethani drains has been completed. These include construction of 382 loose boulder checkdams for an amount of 9 lakh 93 thousand rupees. Similarly, the construction of 03 percolation tanks at a cost of Rs. 4 lakh 75 thousand, 4 check dams at a cost of Rs. 85 lakh, 16 gabion structures at a cost of Rs. 34 lakh and a dyke at a cost of Rs. 40 thousand.
