Uttar Bastar Kanker 25 January 2021. The 11th National Voters’ Day celebrations were organized today at New Community Hall, District Headquarters, Kanker, whose chief guest was District and Sessions Judge Mr. DL. Katakwar was presided over by Collector Shri Chandan Kumar and was present as a special guest by Additional District and Sessions Judge Prashanth Shivhare and Vijay Minj and Chief Judicial Magistrate Chitralekha Sonwani, Judicial Magistrates Amrita Dinesh Mishra and Akanksha Thakur.
Addressing the National Voters’ Day celebrations, Chief Guest District and Sessions Judge D.L. Katakwar said that suffrage is necessary for democracy. Therefore, all voters must use their franchise in elections and those who have completed the age of 18 years must add their names to the electoral roll. He said that if democracy is to be saved, we have to vote also, what will happen if I do not vote? Never think so. We are given the right to vote by the Constitution, which is valuable. This right is found only in democracy, understand its importance and exercise your franchise in elections.
Presiding over the program, Collector and District Magistrate Shri Chandan Kumar said that there is a democratic system in our country and in this system the people form the government. If democracy is to be strengthened, then we have to be constantly aware. National Voters’ Day is being organized by the Election Commission of India with an aim to make people aware of voting. He said that all persons who have completed 18 years of age should get their names included in the voter list, if there is an error in the name of the voter list, get it amended and in the event of death or going away, the name should be deleted from the voter list. Collector Shri Chandan Kumar informed that there are three assembly constituencies of Antagarh, Bhanupratappur and Kanker in Kanker district, a total of 688 polling stations in the district and names of 6029 new voters have been added to the voter list.
On the occasion of district level 11th National Voter, Chief Guest District and Sessions Judge D.L. Oath to exercise franchise was administered by Katakwar. Rangoli competition was organized in the program, whose three winning teams – first Ajay Kumar Patel, Kirtika Sahu, Heena Sahu and second – Poonam Thakur, Poonam Manjhi, Payal Nag and third – Saroj Netam, Reshma Sahu, Neelima Nishad by citation Was rewarded. On this occasion, three BLOs Birendra Kumar Kachlame, Manoj Kumar Besre and Kumari Phoolmat Tekam were awarded with five thousand rupees and citation for excellent work. Older voters Mrs. Jamuna Kumetti and Mrs. Dayabati Parte, third gender voters Devla Bai, Savitri Sharma, Sanjana and disabled voters Pawan Jain and Chhabila Usandi were honored with Shal and Shreephal and 10 new voters aged 18 years, Ravi Kumar, Bhavna Pal, Aarti, Dehari, Namrata Netam, Hemant Yadav, Vidya Sahu, Trupti Borkar, Khushboo Goswami, Ritu Patel and Suraj Motwani were awarded EPIC cards. Deputy District Election Officer Mr. U.S. Bande presented the report and Additional Collector Shri S.P. Thanks were given by Vaidya.
