Raipur: Chief Minister inaugurates ground water conservation work worth Rs 4.99 crore on Jaitarni water stream in Jogisar

Inspection of stop dams built under Narva development scheme worth Rs 36.53 lakh

Raipur, 06 January 2021. The Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today departed from Janjgir Champa district by helicopter and reached Jogisar, gram panchayat of the newly formed Gourela-Pendra-Marwahi district of the state at 1 pm. He inspected stop dams constructed at an amount of Rs 36 lakh 53 thousand under the Narva Development Scheme from Campa Item to Jaitarni Nala. On this occasion, Mr. Baghel inaugurated the ground water conservation works worth Rs. 4 crore 99 lakh on the Jaitarni water stream under Narva development scheme. He then met the villagers. On this occasion, President of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr. Charan Das Mahant, Lok Sabha MP Smt. Jyotsna Mahant and Revenue Minister Shri Jai Singh Agrawal were present.

 

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel held discussions with farmers Shobharam Oraon, Shri Udaya God, Shri Shankar God, Shri Thakur Bhanu, Shri Mahesh Singh Rajput benefiting from Jaitarni Nala. These farmers told the Chief Minister that ever since stop dams have been constructed in Jaitarni Nala, water has started being available for twelve months. Due to the availability of water, pets are not having to wander for water nor are wild animals coming towards the village. Rural life is safe with this.

 

The Chief Minister told the villagers that the Narva (small and big drains) are being revived by the state government through the works of water conservation and augmentation under Suraji village scheme Narva, Garuva, Ghuruwa, Bari. This will increase the availability of water in Narwa, increase the ground water level in the areas around Narwa and keep the moisture in the ground, this will encourage agriculture related activities. The work of curbing surface water is also being done under the Narva program. He suggested the villagers to plant fruitful and shady plants along the banks of the drain. The planting of fruit trees on the banks of the drain will provide food for wild animals. As a result, they will not come to the village. This will make life safer. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has given self-help group women various income-oriented activities such as mid-day meal program, vegetable production, greens, goat rearing, Explained joining duck farming. So that through them, the dream of village independence can be realized.
