All Anganwadi centers in Raipur district become smoke free
4792 children of the district freed from malnutrition under Mukhyamantri Suchitran Yojana
Raipur, 04 January 2021. Women and Child Development Department Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia today took a review meeting of the departmental officers of Raipur district at Red Cross building on the collectorate premises. He said that except for the Corona infected areas, it should be ensured to provide warm food to children and women in 100% of the Anganwadis, so that the state government’s goal of eliminating malnutrition in three years can be fulfilled.
Smt Bhendia said that the situation of malnutrition in Raipur district and the efforts being made to eradicate it, supplementary nutritious food, establishment of Anganwadi workers and assistants, status of departmental buildings, Mahila Suraksha Yojana, Chief Minister’s Nutrition Campaign, Child Protection Scheme and the department’s After deliberating in detail on the problem demands, the concerned officers were given necessary directions. On this occasion, Secretary of the department Mrs. Shehla Nigar, Director Mrs. Divya Umesh Mishra, Collector Dr. S. Bharatidasan and departmental officers were present.
Mrs Wolf said that eliminating malnutrition is one of the government’s priorities. We have to work in the interest of children and women and keep them safe. He instructed the departmental officers to promote the department’s schemes more and more. He asked the departmental secretary to keep constant discussions with the district collectors regarding the progress of the department’s action plans, so that the district collectors can accomplish the goal by better coordination with the field officials. He also instructed the District Program Officer and the Women Child Development Officers at the panchayat level to take stock of the accessibility of the schemes to the beneficiaries. He said that if the quality of ready-to-eat is found to be poor, no further work should be given to the concerned self-help groups.
Secretary Smt. Nigar said that departmental officers should work with their original objectives at the forefront. Officers understand malnutrition technically well. Understanding the subject well will also produce good results. Collector Dr. S. Bhartidasan informed that an innovative initiative has been taken in the name of ‘Targeted Nutrition’ to make Raipur district malnutrition free. Under this, proper care has been made for very seriously malnourished children at their home on the lines of nutritional rehabilitation centers. For this, officers of the district, non-governmental organizations, industries, public representatives, Financial assistance of Rs 80 lakh has been done voluntarily by various donors including charitable institutions. Due to which, with the help of Anganwadi workers and assistants, regular nutritious food is being provided to the children through the Nutrition Basket. This has resulted in positive results. Out of 819 very severely malnourished children targeted on 02 October 2019, there has been a change in nutritional level of 659 children.
District Program Officer Mr. Ashok Pandey informed that under the Chief Minister’s Suraksha Abhiyan, 4 thousand 792 children in the district have become malnutrition free and the hemoglobin level of 12 thousand 844 women has improved. One lakh 34 thousand beneficiaries were benefited under the Supplementary Nutrition Program in the district. Out of 1406 Anganwadi buildings sanctioned with various items in the district, the construction work of 1365 buildings has been completed. In the last 2 years, 1470 Anganwadi centers in the district have been provided with double cylinder gas connections, Due to which all the Anganwadi centers in the district have become smokeless. On this, the departmental secretary gave instructions to the district collectors to seek proposals related to gas refilling. On the demand for Sakhi Center building for Raipur, officials said that a proposal for an additional Sakhi Center for the district has been sent to the Government of India. Along with this, a demand was made to increase the shelter home operated in RIMS from 50 beds to 100 beds for the mentally ill women in the district.
