Anavedak apologizes in case of harassment by repeatedly complaining
Chairperson of Women’s Commission held public hearing on cases related to women harassment
Raipur, 23 December 2020. Chhattisgarh State Commission for Women, Dr. Smt. Kiranmayi Nayak held a public hearing on Tuesday in Janjgir on cases related to women harassment. 21 cases were kept in the hearing. In which one case was racialized due to consent before trial. Similarly, 8 cases were also closed due to consent and non-trial. Dr. Smriti Nayak, while explaining to the women, said that domestic, mutual estrangement can be resolved among the family. Respect and mutual harm to the elders of the household is important for a happy householder.
In the hearings held in the Collector’s House, mainly cases related to assault on women, mental torture, harassment at workplace, dowry harassment, physical torture were heard. Collector Mr. Yashwant Kumar, SP Mrs. Parul Mathur and departmental officers were present during the hearing.
Champa’s female professor Aapika had complained of mental torture against Anavedka. In which Anaveda was mentioned repeatedly complaining. The matter related to this case is pending High Court. The chairman apologized for accepting the decedent and he did not complain in future and agreed to accept the court order. In another episode, the woman had sought maintenance from her husband in a complaint of mental torture. On being persuaded by the Chairman, the Anawadek accepted sending the wife a regular maintenance of Rs. 15 thousand to the bank account every month.
In another case, Aapika had complained of mental torture. After the hearing of both the sides, a case of departmental investigation of Gram Panchayat was found. In this regard, the District Panchayat CEO was investigated and asked to inform the Commission within two months. In the other two cases, the Superintendent of Police was issued a letter instructing to submit the report to the Commission.
