Strong steps have been taken by the government under the public distribution system to ensure availability of food grains to the people of the state. 58 thousand 588 new ration cards were created in Rajnandgaon district from January 2019 to December 9, 2020. In which new BPL ration 10 thousand 727 and new APL ration card 47 thousand 861 were made. Work was carried out on a war footing during the Kovid-19 transition by the Food Department. A nationwide lockdown imposed to prevent and prevent the spread of the global pandemic Kovid-19 forced people to stay indoors. At the same time, the concern of food arrangements was started in front of BPL category families and migrant laborers at the time of lockdown. Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, to address the concern of BPL ration card holders and non-ration card holders (migrant laborers) families in the month of April, May, Decided to give the ration of lump sum free of cost and directed to start distribution immediately. With this decision of the Chief Minister, the major concern of BPL families and migrant laborers of general and tribal forest area of ​​the district was removed. Food is also being provided to APL families on behalf of the government.
According to the instructions of Collector Shri Topswar Verma, successful distribution of food grains was made in all 869 government fair price shops in the district to protect against infection of corona virus and petrol, diesel and food for transport of laborers during migration of migrant laborers. Was arranged District Food Officer Shri Kishore Somawar informed that during Kovid-19, 2 lakh 92 thousand 402 BPL families were given a total of 3 months rice 453566.7 quintals, gram 12669.38 quintals free of cost. A total of 29.78 quintal gram, 413.61 quintal rice was distributed free of cost to migrant laborers (about 1896) on May, June, July 2020.
