On the lines of Indian Coffee House, the new government has decided to open a Gadhkalewa in every district of Chhattisgarh. Gadhkalewa would not only serve traditional delicacies but would also have Devbhog products available for sale. State Government is establishing Gadhkalewa as a new brand. Dignitaries of the state and guests from other states would be served traditional Chhattisgarhi cuisine here in Gadhkalewa. One such Gadhkalewa outlet has also been opened at Chhattisgarh Bhavan of New Delhi , where authentic Chhattisgarhi food is being served.
As per the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, folk art and culture of Chhattisgarh is being promoted. Chhattisgarh Handicraft Development Board has released a new series of bamboo art furniture on the theme of Chhattisgarhi traditions to give a new attractive look to Gadhkalewa. In Raipur, Gadhkalewa is located at Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum Premise. This Gadhkalewa outlet at the capital city gives a tough completion to other restaurants in the city. Food served here is up to the mark as a result of which traditional healthy and tasty food is gaining popularity among the masses.
Chhattisgarhi culture has special food traditions for every occasion, season, festivals and events. Forest dweller tribes have their food habits based on natural forest produce, which makes it rich, diverse and interesting. There is a huge range of delicacies for both happy and sad occasions. State Government has decided to open Gadhkalewa in every district headquarters of the state in financial year 2020-21, for which local self-help groups will be provided training along with place, shade etc, to run the centre smoothly. This would help the members of self-help groups to become self-employed and earn a decent income to take care of their families. At the International Kite Festival organized by Government of India under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ Scheme from January 6-14, 2019 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, a Stall of Chhattisgarhi Cultural Programme and Traditional Cuisine was put up.
