Raipur, 09 November 2020. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today made an important announcement for irrigation facilities for South Patan and to prevent erosion in village Ranitarai of Patan tehsil of Durg district. He said that an embankment would be built on the left side of Kharun at a cost of Rs 22 crore. It is noteworthy that this embankment has been formed on the Kharun river from Dhamtari. This demand was coming due to erosion in the villages adjacent to Patan. Now this problem will go away. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to construct a project with solar community irrigation scheme at Khapri, Odaragahan, Chulgahan at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
The Chief Minister said that where there is scope for lift irrigation in river drains, the project will be approved by conducting tests. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that former Chief Minister Late Shri Shyamcharan Shukla used to say that farmers should provide water for irrigation, they will develop their own. The priority of our government is to provide maximum irrigation facilities to the farmers. The demand for paddy cultivation has increased further. In South Patan, water comes from the Tandula irrigation system, but till the tail end the scope of irrigation is significantly reduced. Solar lift schemes will be run in the river and drains. To increase their irrigation capacity, the ponds will be filled with water. If there is no pond, the process of digging the pond will be done. He said that this greatly increases the scope of irrigation facility.
He said that work is being done to increase the level of ground water through Narva scheme. With them, solar schemes will go a long way in increasing the area under irrigation.
He said that today I saw the fence. The women of self-help groups in Kesra, Kauhi, Borenda have done a very good job. Many types of vegetables were seen in his fence. There was excitement on his face. The Bari scheme is also encouraging women and strengthening them financially.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that we are working on such schemes so that self-supporting villages can be prepared. Economic levels rose. Villagers also participate in this. The Gauthan Committee is responsible for the operation of Gouthan, a model that will encourage both farming and animal husbandry. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the people of rural areas will be especially helped by the introduction of mobile medical units in the health sector. He said that it has been decided to start English Medium School in Patan. With the opening of 6 schools in this area, people will be able to teach children in Government English Medium School.
