Raipur, 9 November 2020. After the recent upgradation work of the old pond Vivekananda Sarovar, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel visited the ‘Chhattisgarh Folk Art Crafts World’ sale-cum-exhibition on the very attractive and illuminating coast this evening.
The Chief Minister here, with the help of Raipur administration, women self-help groups ‘Bihan’, Municipal Corporation’s women self-help groups, Chhattisgarh Matikala Board, Bilasa Handloom Emporium, Chhattisgarh Food and Village Industries Board, Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Board And looked at the materials made through other traditional arts including attractive dung, worship material, folk craft materials.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with women, handicapped and potters of women self-help groups. It is noteworthy that the women of Bihan groups of Raipur district are not only making attractive diyas, idols and worship materials made of mud and cow dung, but they are also making dozens of other materials like various types of soaps, bakeries, cookies, pickles. The Godhan Nyaya Yojana is also proving very useful in making these materials. These materials have been kept for sale to common citizens. In the stall, Narayanpur self-help group made colorful bamboo and bulb-colored frills, Kondagaon self-help group made of terracotta diyas, female self-help groups made of cow dung filets, western paper Stationery materials made from, handloom garments have been put up for sale. In this complex, Bilasa Handloom, Stalls of Shabri Emporium have also been set up. The Chief Minister also purchased Deepawali from the stalls. He also bought diya and worship material.
Instructions not to collect royalty tax on potters from soil
The Chief Minister did not stop herself from seeing the chalk kept in the stall by the women of self-help groups and also made a lamp with her hands like a potter like an artist who made artistic materials of clay. On this occasion, he instructed the officials to provide facilities to the potters to promote their business, as well as not to take the royalty tax in the soil.
When the Chief Minister reached near the Bellmetal sales center while walking on foot, the artists there requested to play the traditional musical instrument Tonga ‘trumpet’ of Bastar. The Chief Minister readily accepted his request and played Tonga several times with a melodious voice.
At the Bihan stall, the Chief Minister provided the smart phones and hand clocks to the orphan girls of Balika Griha from the amount received from the sale of rakhis made by them on the occasion of Rakhi festival. On the occasion Baghel has presented Diwali gifts to more than 50 children and women, including 7 children of Akanksha Sanstha, 27 children from Kopalvani, 6 women of Navyuga Divyang Sanstha and children and girls of Balika Griha, 6 abandoned women of Nari Niketan. Provided diyas, worship materials, chocolates and other decoration materials.
After walking on the campus that is very attractive and illuminating, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel appealed to the citizens that we have traditionally had a glorious tradition of making clay lamps on the occasion of Diwali. The working people are making clay and cow dung and worship material in the traditional as well as modern way. The citizen should continue to promote such glorious traditions, so that people associated with our traditional business continue to get good employment opportunities and have a good income. He said that cow dung lamps are also being made by women groups, which are in great demand all over the country, which are not being supplied.
