Raipur 04 November 2020. In line with the intention of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, efforts are on to upgrade the self-employment of women self-help groups and connect them with self-employment. Under the Suraji village scheme of the Chhattisgarh government, the production of organic manure as well as other supplementary activities has been started by the women’s groups in the Gothans constructed in the villages. Its aim is to make women organized and economically independent. Livelihoods are also being made in Gouthans, so that women groups can conduct livelihood activities here better. Women groups are also being given training by various departments of the government for the employment business they adopt. In this context, under NRLM (Bihan), women were trained to make various daily use items from bamboo.
Zilla Panchayat Durg CEO said that rural women are given training in manufacturing different types of products, so that the means of livelihood are created along with skill enhancement. This training was conducted in view of the multi-faceted use of bamboo in eco-friendly and sustainable livelihoods. Bamboo is easily available. Therefore, by learning to make many useful materials from them, women also learned a new skill. Eminent trainer Mr. Zaman, who came to train women, told that women can make hundreds of daily use items from bamboo and earn income by selling it by staying at their home. Due to which the standard of living of the whole family also improves.
In training, women were taught not only to make bamboo products, but also to maintain bamboo to keep those items safe for a long time. Bamboo in Chhattisgarh is associated with the tradition of building houses, religious rituals and daily use of soups, baskets, pumice, parra etc. from bamboo. But till now this work was done only by people of a particular community. In this training, women are provided with table lamps, wind chime, rainmaker hammock, mobile speakers, clothes hangers, Was taught to make sari hangers, tongs, dustbin etc. Which in a way is a value addition to their work. The training also taught women how to make charcoal from bamboo. Bamboo charcoal is used in the manufacture of air fresheners to cosmetics. Women from 20 self-help groups participated in the training. Who learned to make daily use and decoration materials from bamboo. The aim of this training was to upgrade the skills of women.
