Raipur, 03 November 2020.Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has paid his tribute to renowned writer, linguist and author of Chhattisgarh state song Dr. Narendra Dev Verma on his birth anniversary. November 4 marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Narendra Dev Varma. The Chief Minister recalled Dr. Narendra Dev Varma saying that Dr. Verma was rich in versatility. He has made an indelible mark in many roles like poet, thinker, novelist, playwright, editor and stage operator. He also wrote his compositions in English. He had the ability to impress anyone in a moment with his powerful speech and irrefutable arguments. At the function of Yuva Utsav, he influenced the then Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru with his thoughts deeply. He has given immortal composition in the form of ‘Arpa-Piri ke Dhar, Mahanadi O Apar ……’, in which the glory of Chhattisgarh Mahtari has become one time. This song Narendra Dev Verma’s identity and Chhattisgarh’s values ​​have become. This song, which came out of his pen, has become an anthem of the souls of Chhattisgarh from Bastar to Surguja as a state song. Such vandana of Chhattisgarh can only be their true son.

Mr. Baghel said that whatever Dr. Narendra Dev Varma wrote, he got into the inner soul of the people. A living depiction of the life and culture of Chhattisgarh is found in his works. When his Hindi novel ‘Dawn Ka Talaash’ came through the theater as “Sonha Bihaan” after being translated into Chhattisgarhi, it gave hope to the common people to realize the golden dawn. In true sense, he was the dreamer of Sonha Bihan of Chhattisgarh. He researched the topic “Development of Chhattisgarhi Language and Literature” and received his PhD. He composed many texts like Chhattisgarhi song collection ‘Apoorva’, Hindi novel ‘Dawn Ki Talaash’. His written ‘Mola Guru Banae Le Chhattisgarhi Prahasan’ became very popular. Dr. Verma played an important role in maintaining the Chhattisgarhi language-identity and giving a distinct identity to the culture here. Mr. Baghel said that his invaluable contribution to the Chhattisgarhi language will always be remembered.
