The Chief Minister has said that Smt. Indira Gandhi strived for the upliftment of the lifelong poor and the weaker sections of the society and laid down her life to protect the unity and integrity of the country. Mrs. Gandhi provided a new direction to the country with foresight and firm intentions. Leading the country efficiently in challenging conditions, gave India a prestigious position on the international stage. The success of his Green Revolution program made the country self-sufficient in food production. Mrs. Indira Gandhi was active in the freedom struggle of the country since childhood. He founded the Bal Charkha Sangh and formed the Vanar Sena of children during the Non-Cooperation Movement. As Prime Minister, he nationalized banks, Took drastic decisions such as the abolition of the prince of kings. The rise of Bangladesh, India’s becoming a nuclear power nation were his major achievements. During his tenure, the Indian Space Research Organization was established and the first satellite Aryabhata was launched into space.
