Raipur. 21 October 2020. The State Rural Livelihoods Mission (Bihan) is working on several dimensions to strengthen women. The Government of Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, is also providing training and financial assistance to start self-employment to make women socially and economically strong and self-reliant, besides providing their products door-to-door. . Self-help group women are being provided space and resources for self-employment in multi-utility centers and Gothans. Women of the state are getting large number of jobs due to various activities of Bihaan. With the increase in income, the financial condition of the family is good, better children’s upbringing and education are being done.
A large number of women have been linked to the community-based sustainable agriculture project operated by the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihoods Mission to promote sustainable agriculture. Through this, three lakh 76 thousand women are doing farming and animal husbandry. 4110 Krishi Sakhi and 4052 Animal Sakhi have been trained for assistance and guidance in these works. Five farmer producing organizations have also been formed for value addition and marketing of the products of women farmers. Ten thousand 394 producers have been added to these. In the current financial year 2020-21, a total business of Rs one crore 62 lakh has been done by these organizations so far.
7901 women entrepreneurs are self-employed by SVEP, a start-up village entrepreneurship program run by Bihan. Through this, five crore 65 lakh bricks have been constructed so far by women engaged in brick making work. These bricks are being used in houses under construction and various government buildings under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Rural and private contractors who are constructing houses are also buying bricks from them. Women of self-help groups across the state are also engaged in employment-intensive activities in Gothan. With the manufacture of large scale vermicompost they are engaged in agriculture related business like goat farming, poultry farming, fisheries, vegetable cultivation as well as products used in everyday life such as soap, agarbatti, dona-patla, gumla, diya, gulal Making materials
Women of self-help groups formed under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, making brick, cement poles, paver-blocks and channel-link fencing as well as canteen operations, sanitary napkin construction, handicrafts, ready-to-eat construction, haat-bazaars , Is also engaged in works like fisheries and sewing. 50 women from Surabhi cluster of Raipur district have taken up the work of cleaning the roads of Nava Raipur. She cleans 75 km of roads here. 125 Bihan Markets are being established in the main markets of the state and district for the sale of finished products by women of self-help groups. They will be run by the women of the group themselves.
A well-equipped multi-utility center (Integrated Facilitation Center) has been set up for self-employment of rural women connected with Bihaan. Women are conducting 90 types of livelihood activities in 13 such centers established so far in various districts. These centers employ 1014 women from 145 groups. Slippers, L.E.D. Bulbs, Masks, Jute Bags, Garment Stitching, Candles, Incense Sticks, Incense Sticks, Pencils, Soaps, Washing Powders, Donuts, Tree-Guards, Bakery Items, Mushroom Production, Pearl Cultivation, Lacquer Jewelery, Bangle-Bracelets, Face- Shield, fisheries, nursery, flowerpot, paver-block, fly-ash bricks, chain link fencing, RCC fencing, cement pole, phenyl, bamboo-like, whipped threading, handloom, vegetable production, spice, gulal, handwash, sanitary napkin, Miscellaneous products like paper files, envelopes, bags, rakhi are being manufactured there.
Women of self-help groups are also working as bank sakhas to provide cash to the people in areas where banking services are lacking. By reaching every village, they are bringing the amount of MNREGA wages, pension and scholarships to the hands of the beneficiaries. Banks are giving away the money to the elderly and differently-abled to their home. Even after going to MNREGA workplaces, they pay the laborers their wages. There are 2069 banks working all over the state. Selection and training of 1500 new bank credentials is under process. During the Corona epidemic, 13 lakh 57 thousand transactions have been done by the bank associates from April 1 to August 15, 2020 with a transaction of Rs 232 crore 19 lakh. 285 women groups of the state are also doing digital transactions with banks using the services of Bank Sakhi.
Women of self-help groups are also playing an important role in corona management in the state. During the Corona period, 47 lakh 14 thousand masks manufactured by women of different groups have been sold, due to which they have received five crore 70 lakh rupees. At the same time, women groups have received 68 lakh 64 thousand rupees from the sale of 19 thousand 615 liter sanitizer. 8526 women of 2274 groups are engaged in the work of making masks. As many as 474 women from 68 women groups in different districts are making sanitizers.
During the Corona period, the women of Bihaan have also actively supported in providing nutritious food to the children of Anganwadi and pregnant women. These women along with Anganwadi workers are regularly providing ready-to-eat to 90 thousand 042 children in Bastar district. Through the Bihan Mart in Korea, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Bastar, Kanker, Dantewada and Dhamtari districts, the women of the group are providing home access services for masks, ration, green vegetables, medicines etc. Women associated with the State Rural Livelihoods Mission are also engaged in spreading public awareness about prevention of corona infection in villages. She is continuously sensitizing and educating the villagers through wall writing, rangoli, what-up etc., by demonstrating the correct method of hand washing.
