The Chief Minister reviewed the Home Department’s review of
crimes against women in the year 2020 as compared to the year 2020, the
Chhattisgarh Police will start a dedication campaign to help
about 14 lakh needy citizens through dial 112, dedication campaign
and medical help
Raipur, 14 October 2020. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that police officers and employees who are negligent in the case of crimes against women will not be tolerated. The Chief Minister directed in the review meeting of the Home Department at his residence office here today that strict action should be taken against such officers and employees. Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu was also present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister directed the Director General of Police that continuous monitoring and review should be done at the state level to prevent crimes against women. For this, SOP should be made and police headquarters should directly review serious crimes against women. He said that special investigation teams should also be constituted in all districts to prevent these crimes. Director General of Police Shri DM Awasthi told in the meeting that the Superintendents of Police of all the districts have been instructed to keep a check on crimes against women through video conferencing and to investigate such cases expeditiously. Shri Awasthi said that all police officers will be given separate instructions in this regard separately. He said that the total crime against women in the state has decreased in the year 2020 as compared to the year 2019.
The Chief Minister agreed in the meeting for the ‘Surrender Campaign’ being started by the Chhattisgarh Police to assist senior citizens. Director General of Police Shri Awasthi said in relation to this campaign that senior citizens who live alone will be associated with this campaign. Through community policing, such senior citizens will be provided the necessary facilities and services, including the necessary facilities for protection from epidemics in the corona period, quick diagnosis of their problems. Senior citizens will be able to get surrender membership by applying to the police station or by applying to the WhatsApp number and email address issued from the police headquarters. In the first phase, this campaign will be started in Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur districts.
During the review, it was informed that under the Integrated Emergency Response System Dial 112, facilities of police assistance, fire fighting, medical emergency, women assistance, smart city surveillance are being provided in 11 districts. Under this service, 53 lakh calls were received in about two years. Out of these, nine and a half lakh people were given police assistance, nearly four and a half lakh people were provided emergency medical services, eight thousand people were provided fire fighting service, two lakhs in road accident cases. Six thousand children trapped in crisis were rescued. 14 thousand suicide attempts were prevented, 72 thousand women were assisted. Assistance was provided to the needy within an average of 16 minutes of calls in urban areas and 28 minutes in rural areas.
Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri Subrata Sahu, Director Public Prosecution Shri Pradeep Gupta, Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range Dr. Anand Chhabra, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Sushil Dwivedi, Deputy Secretary of Chief Minister Secretariat Ms. Soumya Chaurasia and senior officers of Police Department were present in the meeting. .
