Raipur, 13 October 2020.Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the development of Bastar zone will solve the problems of Bastar. He called upon industrialists to invest in food and microfiber processing industries including steel in Bastar. The Chief Minister said that there will be no shortage of raw materials for the steel sector industries. Adequate government land is available for setting up industries in Bastar region. More and more industrialists should take advantage of the exemption given by the state government for the steel sector. Industries Minister Mr. Kavasi Lakhma and State Civil Supplies Corporation President Mr. Ram Gopal Agrawal were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel was holding discussions with the delegation of Chhattisgarh Steel and Sponge Iron Production Association at his residence office here today. The delegation congratulated and congratulated the Chief Minister for implementing the best policy for steel industries in the state. This policy will help in attracting new investments. Union representatives said that about 85 percent of the industries in the sector have been protected by the exemption given by the state government in energy charges to the steel industries to stay competitive. During the discussion, the Chief Minister said that while suggesting investment in steel industry as well as local agriculture and small forest produce industries of Bastar, it said that this would provide employment to a large number of local people. Arrangements will also be made to impart training to the local youth in the trade in which skilled people will be required for the industries. Mr. Baghel said that industrialists of Chhattisgarh arranged for the workers to stay during the lockdown. Due to the workers staying here, production activities started in the industries in the last week of April. Iron ore and coal production has been going on, due to which there is no shortage of raw materials for industries. Due to good coordination of the state government, district administration and industrialists, the wheels of industries did not stop in the state. It is noteworthy that in the recent meeting of the Council of Ministers, decisions were taken regarding several concessions for the steel sector. Under the Industrial Policy 2019-24 of Chhattisgarh State, it was decided to provide a special investment incentive package for investment in the mega, ultra mega project of Ispat (Sponge Iron and Steel) sector. Investment incentives up to a maximum of Rs 500 crore (up to Rs 1000 crore for Bastar division) will be valid in the package announced for mega investors. It will be necessary for the proposed units to commence commercial production on or before 31 October 2024. Economic investment incentives will be given only to new units starting commercial production by investing in a fixed capital investment item of Rs 100 crore. Special package has been announced for sponge iron and steel sector industries. Sector wise rebate will be payable from 60 percent to 150 percent.
Similarly, the cabinet meeting approved the proposal to implement all four schemes of the Chhattisgarh State Food Processing Mission Scheme by 31 October 2024, and to form a state-level appellate forum. To promote agro-based rural industries, it has been decided to give special priority to the Forest Rights Act pattahari and community and forest resource empowered villages in the Chhattisgarh State Processing Mission.
