Panchayat and Rural Development Minister shared Gandhiji’s thoughts on radio.
Raipur. 4 October 2020 Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T.S. Singhdev today shared the views of Mahatma Gandhi with the audience on the radio. Today’s episode of the special program ‘ Hamar Gram Sabha ‘ , broadcast from Akashvani Raipur, was focused on Gandhiji’s thoughts. Mr. Singhdev said in the program that only the ‘ Sarvodaya ‘ can be developed by Gandhiji in the true sense of society and nation. ‘ Sarvodaya ‘ does not mean only physical progress. It means the development of every aspect of life and the field. Only through meaningful changes in our thinking, thoughts, behavior, ways of working and life values can we reach the real goals of development.
Mr. Singhdev said in ‘ Hamar Gram Sabha ‘ that for ‘ Sarvodaya ‘ , villages will have to be made resourceful like cities. The progress of every class is necessary to take the state and the country forward. Centralized development does not allow its benefits to reach all the people because the availability of resources is limited at any one place. Decentralizing the system of governance in accordance with Gandhiji’s views, Gram Panchayats have been empowered to ensure maximum local participation in development decisions.
The Panchayat and Rural Development Minister also shared Gandhiji’s views regarding village swaraj, education, women’s rights, untouchability, alcoholism and freedom from malpractices in the program. He also briefed the circumstances and events of Gandhiji’s stay at Raipur on two occasions. In the program, Mr. Singhdev said that for strengthening the villages, the government is emphasizing on agriculture, animal husbandry, cooperatives, rural livelihoods and home industries. The Narva, Garwa, Ghurwa and Bari schemes are innovative steps towards strengthening the economy of the villages. He informed that during the difficult period of Corona epidemic, large number of employment has been provided to the villagers through MNREGA. This has given a big boost to villages in difficult times.
