Raipur: 3.66 lakh hectare area of 359 villages will get irrigation facility due to construction of Bodhghat project

Raipur 16 September 2020. The Bodh Ghat project is an important multipurpose project of the state and Bastar division on the Indravati river. The project will provide water to industries including irrigation, drinking and disposal. Fish farming can also be done in it, which will provide employment to local people. The Bodhghat project will be developed near Barsura, the tourist destination of Geedam development block in Dantewada district. This will boost tourism.
The project will be constructed at a cost of about 22 thousand 653 crores. The area currently has about 13 percent irrigation potential, construction of this project will provide irrigation facility in 3 lakh 66 thousand 580 hectare area. This will benefit a total of 359 villages including 51 villages of Dantewada district, 218 Bijapur of Bijapur and 90 villages of Sukma district. Apart from this the project will generate 300 MW power. 500 mm for commercial use 30 mm for water, drinking water Water can be used. A site for tourism will also be developed with an annual target of 4824 tonnes of fisheries. With the construction of this project 42 villages and 13783.147 hectares of land are coming in the Duban area. It includes forest land 5704 hectares, private land 5010 hectares and government land 3069 hectares.
For the development of this project, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel told MPs, MLAs and distinguished public representatives of Bastar region that the Bodhghat project is necessary to make Bastar happy and prosperous by harnessing the waters of Indravati river. Better arrangements for rehabilitation and management will be made for the affected. The displaced will be given better land for their land, better house for house. Only after the rehabilitation and management of the affected will their land be taken.
