Flora Max Chitfund Scam: Women Commission Chairperson took suo motu cognizance of the matter and formed a two-member team, will collect applications of all women by organizing camps

Korba. Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak, Chairperson of Chhattisgarh State Women Commission, conducted a public hearing on 24 cases related to women harassment including Flora Max Chitfund scam in Korba. Commission members Sarla Kosaria and Lakshmi Verma were also present in this hearing. This was the 291st hearing statewide andLet us tell you that the Commission has decided to take action on a large scale on the complaints lodged against the Flormax Chitfund Company which cheated poor women in Korba. This step was taken on the collective proposal of the journalists of Korba district. The Women’s Commission took suo motu cognizance of the matter and handed over a copy of the order sheets of the case to the Collector Korba. the 9th hearing in Korba district.

A team was formed to take complaints from victimized women

The commission also directed that a two-member team, which includes Sarla Kosaria and Lakshmi Verma, will set up camp at Korba headquarters to take complaints from the victimized women. Collector Korba has assured administrative support in this task and said that he will cooperate in this initiative after taking permission from the government.

These cases were also heard during the public hearing

Episode 1: Resolving a family dispute

The applicant’s son has passed away and the non-applicant is his widow. The non-applicant has a 4-year-old son. After the death of the applicant’s son, the non-applicant has got her husband’s job. A written agreement has been made between both the parties, in which it has been decided that the applicant will be able to meet her grandson. After counselling both the parties, the applicant has accepted before the commission to send her son to his grandparents’ house two days a week, on Saturday and Sunday. There will be no dispute between the two parties on this matter. On the advice of the Women’s Commission, both the families will stay together and will be monitored by the Sakhi Centre for one year. With this direction, the case was settled.

Second case: Delay in order and action by High Court

Applicant No. 1 had submitted an order of the High Court Bilaspur dated 5.5.2023 to the Commission, seeking stay on the removal of the applicant from the post of BRC and sending him elsewhere. However, the Hon’ble High Court did not grant the stay and only ordered status quo, which meant that the applicant could not get any benefit in this case. The applicant has already appeared in the Hon’ble High Court through her advocate, and no action has been taken by the Internal Disputes Committee in this case so far, this is confirmed by the letter dated 27.11.2024 of District Education Officer Korba. Action in this case has not been completed for 2 years, due to which the Commission suggested the applicant to present these points in the Hon’ble High Court through her lawyer. Since the matter is pending in the High Court, it was adjourned and disposed of by the Commission.

Episode 3: Dowry harassment and property dispute

After the death of the applicant’s husband late Vinod Katiyare, all the items given to the applicant at the time of marriage were kept by the non-applicants. The applicant’s complaint was not being registered. The applicant complained several times to the police station and the SP office, but no action was taken. On this basis, the applicant decided that she would register a crime against all these non-applicants under section 498A and get all her items back. The Women’s Commission considered it a pending case in the court and disposed of it.

Episode 4: Property disputes and legal proceedings

The applicant had complained that the non-applicant had taken possession of the house built by her. The non-applicant said that the applicant’s husband had taken money from him, while the applicant’s husband said that the entire money had been returned. It was mentioned that the witnesses of the notarized document on the basis of which the non-applicant had claimed to have bought the house appeared before the Commission today, who confirmed that the applicant’s husband had returned the entire money to the non-applicant in three installments. The legal process has also started in the middle court between the two parties. The Commission has directed SP Korba to obtain a police report from Dipka police station in 02 months in this matter, so that a final decision can be taken. The Commission will settle it finally only after the police report arrives.

Fifth case: Dispute over possession of forest department land

The non-applicant has encroached upon the forest department land, and the applicant had complained about it. A criminal case was registered on this which was pending in the court. Since the case is pending in the court, it was disposed of.

Sixth case: Absent applicant and next date of hearing

In this case, the applicant was absent and she had applied for the next hearing. The court fixed the date of hearing on 16 January 2025 and said that the non-applicant would not be required to appear. The next hearing of the case will be held in Raipur.

Seventh case: Tehsil court’s decision on property dispute

There was a property dispute between the applicant and the non-applicant, which was resolved by the Tehsil Court. If the applicant wishes, she can appeal in the Revenue Court. With this direction, the case was disposed of.

Chapter Eight: Reconciliation and Family Dispute

It was a matter of compromise between the applicant and her sister-in-law. The commission brought about a compromise between both the parties and resolved it amicably. The matter was disposed of.

Ninth case: Allegation of illicit relations

The applicant had alleged that her husband had illicit relations with the non-applicant. The matter was pending in the court, so it was disposed of.

Chapter 10: Maintenance case and legal aid

The applicant had appealed to the court in the matter of maintenance. The commission directed to provide free lawyer to the applicant and disposed of the case.

Eleventh episode: Property dispute and threats

The applicant alleged that the non-applicant had illegally occupied her land and threatened her. The Commission directed to send a letter to the Collector Korba to inspect the site along with SDM, Tehsildar, and other officials and send the report to the Commission in 03 months. In this case, instructions have also been given to register a criminal case against the non-applicant. Further action will be taken after receiving the police report. Non-applicant No. 01 and 02 will be presented in the next hearing through Pali Police Station.
