Raipur. The Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya community, angry with the Chhattisgarh government for changing the name of the Doctor Khubchand Baghel Health Assistance Scheme, staged a sit-in protest in Raipur. Thousands of representatives from Chhattisgarh Pradesh Kurmi community, Satnami community, Dhobi community, Sen community, Sahu community, Chandrakar community and Sarva Chhattisgarhiya community from across the state participated in this protest.

Khodas Ram Kashyap, Central President of Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj, said that changing the name of Doctor Khubchand Baghel Health Assistance Scheme by the Chhattisgarh Government is an insult not only to Doctor Khubchand Baghel, the first visionary of Chhattisgarh state, a great freedom fighter, a social reformer and a lifelong fighter against caste discrimination and evils, but also to the entire Chhattisgarh society including the Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj. Such an unexpected decision of the Chhattisgarh Government is a conspiracy to hurt the pride and self-respect of the great men of Chhattisgarh as well as to erase their identity.

General Secretary Yashwant Singh Verma said that this fight is for the self-respect and honour of the Chhattisgarh society. This fight will continue till it reaches its conclusion. The Chhattisgarh government should take immediate action and issue a decisive order to maintain the former name and identity of the Doctor Khubchand Baghel Health Assistance Scheme, otherwise the entire Chhattisgarh society will be forced to fight a street battle.
