Amit Shah’s meeting with surrendered Naxalites from 6 states: Home Minister appeals to youth involved in violence to give up arms and join the mainstream

Raipur . Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah today met people from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Assam in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, who have given up arms and joined the mainstream of society. Many dignitaries including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present on this occasion.In his address after the meeting, Amit Shah said that in 2019, the youth of the country in Kashmir, Northeast and Naxalism-affected areas were ruining their lives by taking up arms, committing violence and keeping the entire region away from development. He said that at that time, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was decided that those who want to give up arms and join the mainstream of society should be given this opportunity. Amit Shah said that from 2019 to 2024, more than 9000 people have surrendered by giving up arms in the Northeast alone. He said that similarly, many youths have surrendered in the Naxalism-affected area and now the Government of India is making a comprehensive plan for the welfare of such people and those suffering from Naxalism. The Home Minister said that Prime Minister Modi has approved the construction of 15 thousand houses in Naxalism-affected areas. Along with this, the process of forming a dairy cooperative is also being started by giving one cow or buffalo to every family in Naxalism-affected areas.

The Union Home Minister said that after the formation of the government in Chhattisgarh last year, a resolution was taken to make Chhattisgarh Naxal-free. He said that violence is not the way, but those who have taken up arms have to be brought back to the mainstream. He said that the Chhattisgarh government has made the best surrender policy and by replicating it across the country, efforts will be made to rehabilitate the youth who have given up arms in the society.

Amit Shah appealed to the youth involved in violence to give up arms and join the mainstream of society. Talking about the Bastar Olympics, he said that the talented children of Bastar are the future of India. He said that the process of making the children of Bastar capable of winning medals should be started from 2025 to 2036 Olympics. Mr. Shah said that when a girl from Bastar wins a medal in the 2036 Olympics, it will be a strong answer to Naxalism and a message to the whole world that violence is not the way but development is the way.

The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that now very few areas are affected by Naxalism. He said that those who are involved in violence are also our own people. He said that the citizens of the state need schools, dispensaries, hospitals, free food grains, electricity, toilets, water and it is the responsibility of the Chhattisgarh government to provide all these facilities to your villages. He said that Bastar is the first priority of all the welfare schemes of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He said that the people who have given up arms and come into the mainstream of society have trusted Prime Minister Modi and their trust will not be broken and seeing such people, many youths will give up arms and join the journey of development.
