Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi. People of Panika community demonstrated at Lal Bangla Sthal today demanding inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe category. Along with this, a rights rally was taken out from Pendra to Gaurela, in which thousands of people of the community participated. The community submitted a memorandum to the collector and conveyed their message to the Prime Minister and the Chief MinisterThe Panika community demands that their caste should be included in the Scheduled Tribe category in Chhattisgarh as well. The Panika caste was included in the Scheduled Tribe category in undivided Madhya Pradesh before 1971. After the formation of a separate Chhattisgarh state, the Panika caste was removed from the Scheduled Tribe category and included in the Backward Class category.
People of Panika community say that even today their caste is included in the Scheduled Tribe category in Madhya Pradesh, but in Chhattisgarh, Panika caste has not been included in the Scheduled Tribe. Many governments have changed in Chhattisgarh, but the demand has not been fulfilled. There should be a uniform law in a country. People of the community said that if the demand is not fulfilled, then further agitation will be carried out.
