Raipur . In the cabinet meeting held on Monday, it was decided to conduct direct elections for the Mayors of Municipal Corporations and Presidents of Municipal Councils of Chhattisgarh. After this, a review meeting was held today in the meeting room of the State Election Commission Atal Nagar Nava Raipur office under the chairmanship of State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh regarding the preparations for the election work under the upcoming general and by-elections of municipalities and three-tier panchayats. The Divisional Commissioner of Raipur Division, Inspector General of Police, all the Collectors and Superintendents of Police of the division and Deputy District Election Officers attended the meeting. In the meeting, mainly the preparations for the election, security arrangements, condition of polling stations and important preparations related to the election process were reviewed for the smooth conduct of the elections. Through this meeting, necessary instructions were given to ensure smooth and safe conduct of the elections.
State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh instructed all the officers to make all necessary preparations to conduct peaceful elections. He directed to complete all the training programs before the publication of the voter list. He said that all the District Election Officers should personally check the electoral rolls, there should not be any kind of error in it.
State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh also discussed the challenges and possible problems during the electoral process. He instructed the officials to maintain a peaceful atmosphere during the elections, increase voter awareness, and make the voting process transparent and fair. He said that the compliance report of the guidelines issued by the Election Commission is being reviewed from time to time. The collectors and superintendents of police of all the districts informed about the updated status of election preparations of their respective districts through power point presentation.
Election Commissioner Ajay Singh told all the officers present that all of you should keep reviewing your preparations. On 26 November, the election preparations of the officials of Bilaspur and Surguja divisions and on 29 November, the election preparations of the officials of Durg division have been reviewed. Tomorrow, on 4 December, a meeting of senior officials of Bastar division will be held to review the election preparations.
He also stressed on the need to strengthen security measures and law and order. He also reviewed the facilities at the polling stations, deployment of staff and availability of election material so that there is no inconvenience. It was also ensured in the meeting that coordination and cooperation should be maintained among all the concerned officials so that the election process can be completed without any hindrance. He said that the representatives of political parties should be given correct information on time. On this occasion, Divisional Commissioner of Raipur Division Mahadev Kavre, Nodal Officer of Police Department OP Pal, IG of Raipur Division Amresh Mishra, Secretary of State Election Commission Dr. Sarveshvar Narendra Bhure, Raipur Collector Gaurav Kumar Singh and other important officials were present.
