  • Forest rights certificates given to 303 scheduled tribe families including 67 hill Korwas and 36 Birhors

Raipur, 24 October 2024: In the Housing Fair Ceremony under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) organized at Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium, TP Nagar, Korba, yesterday, in the presence of Chief Guest Deputy Chief Minister of the State and Minister in-charge of the district, Shri Arun Saw, Industry, Commerce and Labor MinisterLakhanlal Dewangan, MLA Katghora Shri Premchand Patel, forest rights certificates were distributed to the beneficiaries. In which forest rights certificates were distributed to a total of 404 beneficiaries including 67 to Pahari Korwa, 36 to Birhor and 303 beneficiaries of Scheduled Tribes under the Special Backward Tribe Community. On this occasion, Chief Guest Shri Saw said that the families living in forest areas for many decades will get freedom from the fear of eviction after receiving the forest rights certificate.

 

It is noteworthy that under the direction of the district administration, camps were organized under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana in the areas dominated by special backward tribes of Korba district. Through the camp, people of the hill Korwas and Birhor tribal society were made aware and were also motivated to take advantage of the government schemes. Through the camp, eligible beneficiaries of PVTG are being benefited by getting forest rights certificate, Ayushman card, Aadhar card, ration card, opening bank account and application for Pradhan Mantri Awas. In Korba district, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, forest rights certificates are being distributed to the families of special backward tribal community, Scheduled Tribes and other beneficiaries under the Forest Rights Act 2006 as amended by Rules 2012. 56,711 forest rights certificates have been distributed in the district. Collector Shri Ajit Vasant and in-charge District Panchayat CEO Smt. Pratishtha Mamagai and beneficiaries were present on this occasion.
