New Delhi. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will hold a review meeting with the Chief Ministers of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected states at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday, 7 October. The Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will participate in the meeting. Apart from this, 5 Union Ministers and senior officials of the Central Ministries who are assisting the states in accelerating development work in Left Wing Extremism affected areas will also be present in the meeting. Apart from this, Deputy National Security Advisor, Central Armed Police Forces and senior officials of the states will also participate in the meeting
Let us tell you that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Central Government is committed to completely eradicate Naxalism by March 2026. The Central Government is providing all possible assistance to all the states affected by Left Wing Extremism to deal with this problem.
Home Minister Shah will hold a review meeting of the states after a year
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired the last such review meeting with the Chief Ministers of Left Wing Extremism affected states on 6 October 2023. In that meeting, the Home Minister had given comprehensive guidelines to root out Left Wing Extremism.
Left wing extremism is fighting its last battle
It is worth noting that due to the strategy of Modi government, violence has reduced by 72% and deaths by 86% in 2023 as compared to 2010 and today Left Wing Extremism is fighting its last battle. In the year 2024, the security forces have got unexpected success against the Naxalites. So far this year, 202 Naxalites have been killed and in the first 9 months of 2024, 723 Maoists have surrendered. Along with this, the number of Left Wing Extremism affected districts in 2024 has come down to only 38.
The central government has also taken concrete steps to take development schemes to the remote areas of the states affected by LWE. Special emphasis is being laid on road and mobile connectivity in these areas. So far, 14,400 km of road has been constructed in the LWE affected areas and about 6000 mobile towers have been installed.
