Karni Kripa plant’s troubles increased: Collector sealed the accident site of the plant, issued a notice and sought a reply

 Mahasamund. An accident took place on 8 September 2024 at M/s Karni Kripa Power Plant in the district, in which two people died. After the accident, the collector has issued a show cause notice to the plant management. This notice has been issued due to the manager not giving timely information to the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer and the nearest police station regarding this incident. The accident site has been inspected and sealed by the Labor Officer and Industrial Health andSafety Officer of the Labor Department. The management has been asked to respond to this notice within three days.vcIn an order issued by the collector to the factory management, it is said that three workers were seriously injured in the accident that took place in the power plant on September 8. Bharat Verma died on September 12 and Khileshwar Sahu on September 14 during treatment. According to Rule 108 (2) of the Chhattisgarh Factory Rules, 1962, such an incident should have been immediately reported to the district administration and police, but the management did not do so. The district administration received this information through social media and newspapers on September 22, after which the collector took this strict step. The administration has sought an explanation from the plant management in three days and warned that punitive action will be taken if a proper answer is not received.
