Raipur. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu discussed the possibility of developing a Mass Rapid Transit Corridor in Chhattisgarh in a meeting held in New Delhi today. He directed Jaideep Kumar, OSD (Urban Transport) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to examine the possibilities of this initiative.

During the meeting, the minister emphasised the need to focus on various transport options such as metro, monorail, rapid rail and cable cars. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity between major industrial cities of Chhattisgarh – Durg, Bhilai and Raipur. The minister directed to prepare a comprehensive mobility plan for these cities soon.

Tokhan Sahu also directed that all expenses of surveys etc. in preparing a comprehensive mobility plan will be met by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He said that the establishment of Mass Rapid Transit Corridor will increase employment opportunities and people will get better access to health care, education and other services.

According to sources, the state government will be directed to prepare and submit a detailed proposal for further evaluation and consideration by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.]
