The government will give an honorarium of Rs 1 to 3 crore to the players for winning medals in the Olympics from Chhattisgarh. This was announced by Chhattisgarh CM Vishnudev Sai on Thursday. He made this announcement among the players at the sports decoration ceremony organized at DD Auditorium in Raipur. Here he also honored 502 players with sports awards in different categories.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai announced at the State Sports Decoration Ceremony that Chhattisgarh players who won gold medal in Olympic Games will be given Rs. 3 crore as prize money, Rs. 2 crore for players who won silver medal and Rs. 1 crore for players who won bronze medal.
The Chief Minister said that we are committed to taking sports talent forward in Chhattisgarh. We will enhance sports talent through good infrastructure and training so that our players can perform even better at the international level and bring glory to Chhattisgarh.
Players have not got their rights for the last 5 years
Addressing the function, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that in the last five years, the State Sports Awards ceremony was not organized in the state. Our government felt the pain of the players and decided to organize the State Sports Awards ceremony again.
This year, the sports decoration ceremony was organized twice. The first decoration ceremony was held on 14 August this year. In this, 133 players were awarded prize money of Rs 1 crore 41 lakh for the year 2019-20 and the year 2020-21.
Players got 502 crores
502 talented players of various sports disciplines were awarded in the State Sports Awards Ceremony organized at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium. All of them were given a total honorarium of Rs 1 crore 36 lakh. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai also honored the family members of the martyrs by presenting them shawls and coconuts. The awards that the players of the state get are in the name of the brave martyrs of the state.
New stadiums being built in the state
CM Sai said in the program that an integrated sports complex is being built in Jashpur and Raigarh at a cost of 105 crores. Along with this, a multipurpose indoor stadium and synthetic football ground with running track is being built in Nava Raipur at a cost of Rs 62 crores. For the first time after the formation of the state, a residential hockey academy has started in Raipur in the month of August this year.
Residential football academy for girls will start from September. Along with this, athletic academy, kabaddi academy and archery academy are also being run. Off centre of Laxmi Bai National Institute of Physical Education will also be started in Raipur, which will be a big achievement for the state in the field of sports.
Recruitment will be done on vacant posts in the sports department
Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh said that young players have struggled a lot for this honour. The organisation of this honour was stopped by the Congress government.
