Raipur. Keeping in mind the interest of farmers in Kharif 2024 under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the Chhattisgarh government has extended the date for crop insurance to 16 August 2024. The Government of India has made the cut-off date for enrollment of loanee and non-loanee farmers for all notified crops as 16 August. The farmers of the state have been appealed to get their crops insured by the prescribed date.According to the information received from the Agriculture Department, under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme of the Chhattisgarh Government, farmers of the district can get insurance for the main crop irrigated paddy, non-irrigated paddy and other crops like maize, groundnut, green gram, urad, soybean, pigeon pea, kodo, kutki, ragi. The farmers’ crops have been included in the insurance to provide relief from the losses caused by natural calamities like adverse weather, drought, flood, waterlogging, insect disease, hailstorm etc
Under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, loanee and non-loanee farmers who are land owners and sharecroppers can join, farmers who have been approved, renewed seasonal agricultural loan from financial institutions for notified crops in notified village and revenue inspector board. The scheme will be implemented on the basis of option selection for loanee farmers, loanee farmers who do not want to join the scheme will have to submit a self-signed declaration form to the concerned financial institution 7 days before the last date of insurance application. If the option is not selected, then it will be compulsory to insure. Apart from these, all non-loanee farmers growing notified crops on optional basis who are willing to join the scheme can avail the benefits of the scheme by getting the sowing certificate verified by the regional Patwari, Rural Agriculture Extension Officer and by submitting other documents.
The premium rate to be paid by the farmers is 2 percent of the total insured amount under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in Kharif year 2024. The premium amount is payable by the farmers for the main crop irrigated paddy Rs. 1200, unirrigated paddy Rs. 900 and other crops maize Rs. 900, peanuts Rs. 840, green gram and urad Rs. 540, soybean Rs. 960, tur Rs. 760, kodo Rs. 320, kutki Rs. 340 and ragi Rs. 300. In case of agricultural loan being sanctioned from different financial institutions for the same notified area and notified crop, the farmers have to be insured from one place only. The farmers will have to inform the concerned bank about this.
In the event of double insurance of the same area, Khasra by indebted and non-indebted farmers, the area entered first will be accepted and all other insurances will be cancelled by the company and the premium amount will be transferred (revenue) as per the scheme provisions. Aadhar card is mandatory for insurance and loan book, bank passbook, sowing certificate are required.
