CG BREAKING: DGP Ashok Juneja gets six months extension

Raipur. Chhattisgarh DGP Ashok Juneja has been given a six-month extension. He will now remain in office till February 2025. The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved a six-month extension on the proposal of the Union Home Ministry regarding DGP Ashok Juneja.

Let us tell you that Juneja, a 1989 batch IPS officer of Chhattisgarh, was going to retire on August 4, but before that the state government had sent a proposal to the central government to extend his service tenure by six months.

The reason behind the extension

Many reasons are being cited behind the extension of Ashok Juneja’s service after his retirement. One of the major reasons is the success achieved on the Naxal front since the BJP government came to power in the state. In the last six months, about 150 Naxalites have been killed. A large number of Naxalites have surrendered. The result of coordination between the state police and the paramilitary forces is that for the first time major success is being achieved on the Naxal front. It is said that this issue is being made the basis behind giving extension to Juneja. The government is adopting an aggressive stance against Naxalism. It is said that the government did not want to take any risk on any possible negligence in coordination by changing the DGP.

Let us tell you that 1989 batch IPS officer Ashok Juneja is known for his simple, easy and serious work. He has a lot of experience of working on central deputation. Juneja has also worked as Intelligence Chief in Raman government. He has handled responsibility as SP in Bilaspur, Durg and Raipur. He has also taken charge as Home Secretary. Juneja has also worked as Transport Commissioner, Sports Director. While in Police Headquarters, he has handled responsibilities like Armed Forces, Administration, Training. During central deputation, Juneja has worked in Narcotics. Also, he has handled the responsibility of Security Chief during Commonwealth Games.
