Khairagarh. After the change of power in the Nagar Palika, now the BJP has formed the city government. On Friday evening, a general meeting of the council was called, in which there was a heated debate between the Congress and BJP councilors. There was a lot of uproar over the division of work in the wards.
A 25-point agenda was discussed in the meeting, but a topic was also included in this agenda, whose work and payment both had been done one and a half years ago. Regarding the whole matter, Congress councilor Purushottam Verma of Dhaneli ward number 13 said that the proposal for construction of drain in my ward Dhaneli under the head of 15th Finance Commission has been put forward in the meeting, its construction has already been done. Still, its inclusion in the proposal is beyond comprehension. Somewhere there is collusion between the current government and the municipal employees in this. There is a smell of corruption in this. When I opposed it in the House, the officials are giving evasive answers citing typing error, so there is definitely something fishy in this, because the work has already been done and payment has also been made.
While raising many questions on this special meeting, MLA representative Manrakhan Devangan said, the poor management of the Nagar Palika is visible in the general assembly meeting. All the officers are working carelessly. Employees have come to the House without files on any subject, which we have condemned in the House. In the general assembly meeting, suddenly there is a talk of presenting the budget, which we opposed and the subject has been cancelled. Many works of 15th Finance which are in various wards have already been done here, but today it was brought to the House for financial approval, which is highly condemnable and a big negligence of the Nagar Palika.
On this entire issue, Municipal Chief Officer Pramod Shukla has washed his hands off the matter by calling the allegations of Congress baseless and citing clerical error.
