Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai congratulated the new Governor

Shri Ramen Deka took oath of his office as the 10th Governor of Chhattisgarh in a solemn ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan today. Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha administered the oath to him. Governor Shri Deka took oath in the name of God. First Lady Smt. Rani Deka Kakoti was present on this occasion. Chief Minister of the state Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Chief Justice of High Court Bilaspur Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha greeted Governor Shri Deka by presenting him a flower bouquet and wished him well.
At the ceremony, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by President Smt. Draupadi Murmu to appoint Mr. Ramen Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. The swearing-in ceremony began and ended with the National Anthem played by the Ceremonial Police Band. The tune of the State Song was also played on the occasion. After the swearing-in, Governor Mr. Ramen Deka was given a Guard of Honor.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Saw, Finance Minister Mr. O.P. Choudhary, Forest and Climate Change Mr. Kedar Kashyap, Commerce and Industry and Labor Minister Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Food, Civil Supplies Minister Mr. Dayal Das Baghel, Public Health and Family Welfare, Health Minister Mr. Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Revenue, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Tankaram Verma, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, MP Mr. Brijmohan Agarwal, former Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, and other MLAs were present.
Commissioner of Chhattisgarh State Information Commission Mr. N.K. Shukla, Mr. Alok Chandravashi, Chairperson of Chhattisgarh Women Commission Mrs. Kiranmayi Nayak, former Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly Mr. Dharamlal Kaushik, Mr. Narayan Chandel, Mr. Gaurishankar Agrawal, former ministers, MPs, MLAs including public representatives, Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Renu Pillai, Mr. Subrat Sahu, Mr. Manoj Pingua, Secretary to Governor Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Registrar General of Chhattisgarh High Court Mr. V.P. The biography of Governor Shri Ramen Deka is as follows-
Shri Ramen Deka, the 10th Governor of Chhattisgarh, was born on 1 March 1954 in Sualkuchi, Kamrup (Assam). His father’s name is late Shri Surendra Nath Deka and mother’s name is late Smt. Champabati Deka. He is survived by his wife Smt. Rani Deka Kakoti and two children. He obtained BA degree in Philosophy and Economics from Pragjyotish College, Guwahati University, Assam.
Shri Ramen Deka is a senior politician. He has been active in politics since 1977. He was a founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 1980. Ramen Deka has also been the state president of Assam BJP in the year 2006. Shri Deka has been the Vice Chairman of the Innovation and Transformation Commission of Assam State (Cabinet Minister status) from August 2021 till 29 July 2024.
He was a two-time MP. For the first time in 2009, he was elected as MP from Mangaldoi seat of Assam for the 15th Lok Sabha. During this period, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Member of Public Accounts, Member of India Bhutan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Member of Subordinate Legislation Committee, Member of Committee on Absence of Members from the House Meetings. After that, in 2014, he was again elected as MP for the 16th Lok Sabha. In his second term, he was also a member of the panel of chairmen in the Decca Lok Sabha.
During this period, he discharged the responsibilities of Member Estimates Committee, Member Advisory Committee, Member Ministry of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs, Member Central Advisory Committee under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Member India-China Parliamentary Friendship Group, Member Tea Board. In the second term itself, he was Member Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Member General Purposes Committee, Member Sub-Committee Second Estimates Committee, Member Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and from 2021 till now, Vice-Chairman of Innovation Transformation Commission Assam.
Shri Deka took oath as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on 31 July 2024.
