Bijapur. The district has been receiving heavy rainfall for the last three days. The rain has exposed poor construction and negligence. Water is dripping from the roof of the Children’s Hospital in the District Hospital, which has reached the maternity ward below. The admitted children, pregnant mothers and relatives remained troubled the whole night due to the dripping water in the ward. But the responsible people did not consider it appropriate to take care of that ward
In fact, last year, a Shishu and Matritva (Utsav) Hospital was built on one of the three floors of the district hospital for mothers and children. But due to poor and substandard construction, the problem of water dripping and short circuit due to leakage in the roof persists almost every day. There is a problem of short circuit in the children’s ward due to the electrical wiring almost everyday, the brunt of which is faced by small children and their families. The family members of the admitted child told Lalluram.com that water kept dripping from the roof throughout the night. There was water everywhere. They said that they kept awake the whole night while sleeping with the child in their pallu. They kept wandering from one ward to another. But the responsible people sitting in the district did not consider it appropriate to even take notice.
District CMHO Dr. BR Pujari told Lalluram.com that it is in my knowledge, I went there myself. The building has not been built properly, that is why these problems are arising. When I was posted here earlier, I was not taking the handover. I had given a notice to the contractor earlier and now notice will be given in future also.
The civil surgeon of the hospital told Lalluram.com that I tried to get the building repaired several times but it was not repaired. I was forced to shift to the building, now the children have been shifted to other wards, there is no doubt that the construction is substandard. I had also issued a notice to the contractor and asked him to repair it. It means that the entire building has become incurable.
Let us tell you that last Saturday, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Manoj Pingua, Health Director Rituraj Raghuvanshi were on a tour of Bijapur district. The Health Minister along with the officials had inspected the Child and Maternity Hospital (Utsav) of the hospital. At the same time, Health Minister Jaiswal had a review meeting on health related disorder and other health facilities in the auditorium of the District Panchayat. While giving the gift of a new building, 10 ICU beds, two dialysis machines to Bijapur, strict instructions were given to the CMcho, CS and doctors of the district to improve the health related disorder. But the instructions do not seem to have any effect. The disorder in the district hospital remains as it is.
