The police stopped the sloganeering protesters near the women’s police station, after which there was a tussle between the protesters and the police. During this, the protesters burnt the effigy of Home Minister Vijay Sharma and tried to cross the barricades continuously for 2 hours.

State President Akash Sharma said, “Law and order has deteriorated in Chhattisgarh. Incidents like Baloda Bazaar and stabbing have become common. Yesterday also knives were used inside the police station premises in Raipur. We had come to demand the resignation of the Home Minister regarding this situation, but the police stopped us and pulled us. We will continue our protest till such incidents stop in the state.”

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Phoolan Devi Netam said, “Criminal cases are increasing in the state. Women are not safe and incidents like Baloda Bazaar have never happened before. Therefore, Mahila Congress and our youth colleagues gheraoed the Home Minister’s residence and demanded his resignation.”

During the protest, NSUI state president Neeraj Pandey said, “The law and order situation in the state has deteriorated and no section of society is safe. Incidents against students are also increasing. Ever since the BJP government has come and Vijay Sharma has become the Home Minister, the morale of criminals has increased and the police are putting innocent people in jail. We oppose this and demand the resignation of the Home Minister.”
