Raipur: The Congress has constituted a nine-member delegation led by MLA Daileshwar Sahu, specifically overseeing Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Baij to visit the families of the deceased of the tragic road mishap that occurred at Kukdur Kawardha. According to the delegation, the losses incurred during the tragic event are grievous and deserve sympathy and support from the bereaved families.

The mishap occurred on Monday when approximately 30-35 of the Baiga tribal population went into the forests in search of tendu leaves for their trading purpose. They also used pickup vehicles to transport them back home after they had collected the tendu leaves they needed to make their products. However, a terrible incident occurred when one of the pickups developed a brake failure, and the driver lost control, thus causing the vehicle to roll over a precipice near Bahpani village in Kukdur police station, which resulted in a ditch that was over 30 feet deep. The catastrophe took place in the morning when 13 people died, and 9 were seriously harmed.

As previously stated, after the occurrence of the tragedy, the injured were rushed to the Kukdur Community Hospital, where, on the way, five more people died from their injuries. The four from the camp were given first aid, and some of them were rushed to the district hospital, but unfortunately, one of them died before reaching there.

This tragedy has affected the entire state, much to the upshot that politicians and society members have not only come out strongly in condemnation of the incident but have also been very productive in offering their support. It should be stressed that the Congress delegation’s visit to those families shows the party’s concern and readiness to help and support the families of those affected during this time.
