, Raipur. The (unconfirmed) reason behind the accident of Shalimar Express near Urkura station has come to light. Actually, drilling was being done under the railway line. When the driller’s head (reamer) was pulled back while the train was roaring, it started rubbing the coaches. While three passengers, including an innocent child, were injured in the incident, the windows of the AC coach were broken.
According to the information, with the permission of the Railways, the staff of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board was doing drilling work under the railway line near Urkura station. While Shalimar Express was passing the spot, the head (reamer) of the drilling machine came up while pulling back, and started rubbing against coaches B4, B5, B6 and S2 of Shalimar Express. Due to this, the glass in the windows of the AC coach got broken, while the sleeper coach got scratched.
It was told that three people were injured in the accident, out of which two are passengers, while one is a cleaning worker of the train. When the train reached Raipur station, the three injured were sent to Mekahara through ambulance. The railway medical staff provided first aid to a passenger who suffered minor injuries at the station itself.
Train stood in Raipur for an hour
Due to this accident, Shalimar Express remained standing at Raipur station for about an hour. The incident occurred near Urkura station at 9.57 am, after which the train reached Raipur station at 10.18 am. It took about an hour for the medical staff to investigate and take all the actions along with the railway officials, after which the train was dispatched from Raipur at 11.48 am.
RPF asked about the condition of passengers
After the accident of Shalimar Express, RPF also appeared ready from its side. After the train left Raipur, RPF team also reached the coach in Bhilai to know the condition of the passengers.
