Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, the people of Satyam Vihar Colony of the capital Raipur have announced election boycott. A banner has also been put up for this. People say that when leaders come to ask for votes, they fold their hands and legs, talk about Didi-Bhaiya, but do not even listen at the time of work.
People told that they have been struggling with many problems of the area for a long time. No leader or public representative has paid attention to this. In such a situation, now we are raising the slogan of no road, no vote, no drain, no vote.
Boycott banner outside the colony
Anand Dewangan, a resident of the ward, said that it has been many years since the colony was built. The roads of the colony are in bad condition since last 4 years. For this, the residents of the colony have informed the councilor and the MLA several times. Demand has been made for road renovation, but till date the road has not been built.
The residents of Satyam Vihar Colony have put up a banner outside the colony to boycott the Lok Sabha elections. People say that residents are troubled due to bad roads and lack of drain construction. Even during the assembly elections, many promises were made that construction would be done, but it did not happen.
Accidents happening due to bad roads
Rajesh Verma of the colony said that due to bad roads, people here become victims of accidents every day. Many people had to be hospitalized due to serious injuries. Shyam Kirtan Yadav said that his objective behind hanging the banner of election boycott is that the Municipal Corporation and District Administration along with the leaders of political parties should take cognizance of his demands which have been pending for years.
no work no vote
Local people say that despite being in the capital, Satyam Vihar Colony is quite backward. Most of the people of the colony say that until their problems are not resolved, they will not participate in the Raipur Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 7.
Colony residents told that everyone has unanimously decided to boycott the elections. Our demands are that we will not vote until our work is done.
On one side awareness programs are being held, on the other side this situation
To increase the voting percentage, the district administration is continuously running many programs and awareness campaigns. On one hand, events like car rally, ramp walk are being organised, but on the other hand, the colony residents are having to resort to boycotting elections for basic needs.
