Raipur. The first phase of elections is to be held in Bastar on 19 April. For this, the Election Commission team has made concrete arrangements. Due to it being a Naxal affected area, the Election Commission has made arrangements for 2 air ambulances here, which will be immediately available for the employees and forces engaged in election work in case of any untoward situation. Polling personnel will also be sent for the first phase of voting from Tuesday. This information has been given by Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Shailabh Sahu.

Shailabh Sahu said that today is the second day of nomination for the third phase in Chhattisgarh, in which nominations are being submitted for a total of 7 Lok Sabha constituencies (Raipur, Durg, Korba, Surguja, Raigarh, Janjgir Champa, and Bilaspur). The last date for filing nomination is 19th April. Scrutiny of nomination papers is 20th April and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is 22nd April.

Today on Monday, a total of 32 nominations of 15 candidates have been filed under the third phase of nomination. In this, a total of 32 nominations have been filed from 15 candidates – 4 from Surguja, 2 from Raigarh, 3 from Janjgir, 4 from Bilaspur, 9 from Durg and 10 from Raipur.

The Election Commission is keeping a close eye on suspicious activities during elections. The Election Commission team has so far seized around Rs 110 crore during checking in different cities. Which includes Rs 66.03 crore from January 1, 2024 to March 16 and Rs 43 crore 97 lakh from March 16 to April 14.

GPS devices being installed in vehicles for monitoring

For the Lok Sabha elections 2024, a total of 159 polling stations in the first phase and 112 polling stations in the second phase have been identified as sensitive. Arrangements have been made for 69 runners for the first phase and 132 runners for the second phase. GPS is to be installed in a total of 11644 vehicles for the transportation of Sector Officers and EVMs/VVPATs, under which
GPS devices have been installed in 274 vehicles out of 1021 vehicles in 6 districts of the first phase.
