Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of redevelopment works of 554 railway stations and 1500 flyover and underpass construction works of the country under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme through video conferencing. These also include redevelopment of 21 railway stations of Chhattisgarh and construction of 83 road over bridges and under bridges at a cost of Rs 2700 crore. On this occasion, Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, MP Raipur Shri Sunil Soni were present in the program organized at Raipur Railway Station.

On this occasion, Governor Shri Harichandan said in his address that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is writing a new story of change and Indian Railways is also going through the golden phase of its rejuvenation. Due to the special emphasis given on infrastructure construction over the years, today India is the fastest growing rail network system in the world.

The Governor said that in this year’s Railway Budget, a budget of more than Rs 6 thousand 896 crore has been allocated to our state by the Central Government. This is 22 times the average budget given between 2009 and 2014. There is a plan to redevelop both Durg and Raipur stations to make them world class. Vande Bharat trains are also running in the state. Under the ongoing campaign for rejuvenation of railway stations in the state, the work of redevelopment of 32 stations is going on at a fast pace.  

The Governor expressed happiness over the fact that Chhattisgarh’s rail network has been 100 percent electrified. In the last 10 years, the rail network in the state has expanded by an average of 162 kilometers every year, which is several times more than between 2009 and 2014. Apart from this, Rs 36 thousand 968 crore will be spent for upgradation in Chhattisgarh in the coming 3 to 5 years.

The Governor said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has gifted to the countrymen a record of more than 2000 railway projects costing Rs 41 thousand crore. It was not so easy, but due to the record investment made by the Central Government in Railways, today we all have become witnesses of this historic event.

    On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma mentioned the work being done for the expansion of railway facilities in Chhattisgarh. He said that with the construction of new road over bridges and under bridges, road and rail transport in the state of Chhattisgarh will operate more easily, smoothly and safely. Raipur Lok Sabha MP Shri Sunil Soni said that even the smallest station is becoming a model station through Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. In the coming time, more high speed trains like Vande Bharat train will run in Chhattisgarh.

Essay, poetry, speech, competitions were organized for school children under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The Governor distributed prizes and certificates to the winning students of these competitions.

It is noteworthy that 21 railway stations of Chhattisgarh have been included in this scheme. In which redevelopment of stations of Korba, Raigarh, Rajnandgaon, Sarona, Bhatapara, Dongargarh, Bhilai Nagar, Hathbandh, Bilha, Baikunthpur Road, Ambikapur, Uslapur, Pendra Road, Janjgir Naila, Champa, Baradwar, Dallirajhara, Bhanupratappur, Nipania, Mandirhasaud, Bhilai. Will be done.

On this occasion, MLA of the area Shri Purandar Mishra, GM of South-East Central Railway Bilaspur Zone. Shri Alok Kumar, DRM of Raipur Railway Division Shri Sanjeev Kumar along with public representatives, students and common citizens were present.
